On Conor McGregor’s back, there is a very intriguing tattoo. At the top, between his shoulder blades, there’s a winged crucifix, which is particularly surprising considering the Irish fighter’s atheism. Below the cross, running down his spine, is a double helix with thorns. In the context of the crucifix, it almost seems to allude to the crown of thorns worn by Christ, which again is odd considering the champion’s negative statements about religion. He himself doesn’t reveal the meanings behind these images.
